Somewhere, someplace

We will use desaturated images of human features, as if the light were bringing forth our story from somewhere else. As if distant memories were coming into focus, pixel by pixel…
Suburbs
Although this part of the story isn’t set in any specific time, we will, with lighting and decor allude to a 1950’s feel of suppression and claustrophobia…

In the mirror we will observe Jane in different ways; as she sees herself, as we see her, in the light and in the shadow…

In the kitchen, we will live mostly in a wide shot, to express that Jane is on a stage, (or in a cage) and that we are her observers. Natural light outside struggles to pierce through net curtains…

We observe Jane’s intimate and alone moments in wide shots…

And in close ups…

With lighting and placement, a very clear family schism will be established…
In Jane’s private moments with Mikey, we will communicate their strong, spiritual entanglement…

In Jane’s private moments with Steve, we explore through lighting and staging; her isolation and fear. A parasitic attachment…

individual, subtle hue’s of white, green and red will be used to separate our players…

Sometimes, the light will infiltrate net curtains and try to reach Jane. But, she is unaware of it…
The violence will be close, in warm shadows and menacing…

Transition
We will slowly transition from the dull, lifeless suburbs to the electric neon of the city…

On Mikey’s face we will use reflections of the neon city to witness the panorama of new possibilities for him and his Mother…

Saoirse
Bright neon colors within mysterious dark alleys, exploring shadow and light, call to us.

We will place neon lights on their faces and white light from behind them, as if the light were both calling and guiding them toward adventure…

Saoirse will be lit in different ways to express that this club is a non linear portal of past, present and future…

Warm and inviting…

Cool and textured…

Theatrical and period…

When Jane is faced with memories of her abuse, she remembers them in black and white, like a 1920’s stage show…

"THE ONE"
In the song and dance number; we will use projections of beautiful, unfolding geometric patterns and kaleidoscopic images of diamonds to act as Consciousness and messenger to Jane…

With VFX and projectors, we even visit a geometric Universe…

IDOLS
For the idols; Kali, St Michael and the Red guy, we may use special lenses and filters and play with focus, to portray an otherworldly expression of physical energy from one realm to another…

Special shots will be used to explore Jane’s journey down the rabbit hole…

OUTSIDE
Exterior shots will be bright, expansive and unfiltered. Expressing the awakening Jane has had after pushing through the darkness…
Using extra wide frames, bright natural light, saturated warm colors and flares; the outside shots will represent Mikey and Jane’s freedom; their realisation of the magnitude and magnificence of life and their discovery that the world is safe. And so is death…
